Recreation Assistant - Summer Student Position

Job Description:

• Maintain a safe and comfortable atmosphere for residents during recreation initiatives, as well as communicate, engage and build connections with residents during the outside of recreation activities.
• Under the direction of the Recreation and Volunteer Services Supervisor:
  • Plan/Implement person-centred programs both large and small groups with guidance from recreation professionals. This may include accompanying Recreation Professionals on outings. Porter Residents to and from programs
  • Setting up and cleaning up after Programs.
  • Provide individualized programs to assigned residents.
  • Document the contacts made with residents on a daily basis, using the activity pro system.
  • Regularly communicate with the activation coordinator the progress or issues related to assigned duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner at all times.

Skills/Qualifications: 

• Enrolled as post-secondary student (College/University) and returning to full-time education at a post-secondary institution in September 2026.
• Sound knowledge of computers (Internet, MS Programs)
• Exceptional communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Positive attitude, with the ability to motivate others
• Clear police background check
• Confidentiality Agreement must be signed

Position Length:                      May 11 – August 28, 2026

Wage Range:                            $18.00-$20.00 per hour + 4% vacation per pay
