Table of Contents

Writer Jordan Whitehouse sent us his take on some Wildly Authentic shops where you can find that perfect gift for Father’s Day.

You might not be able to celebrate Father’s Day as usual with your dad this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still show him some love. Many shops across Hastings County are offering online and phone sales, and some will even deliver. From craft beer and cider, to paintings and woodwork, to fishing and hunting gear, here are 11 local options.

7/62 Craft Brewers

The lockdown has been tough for many small businesses in the area, and that’s especially true for newer ones like Madoc’s 7/62 Craft Brewers. Since day one, the craft brewery’s mission has been to brew “Simply Good Beer”, and they’ve done that. They now have six core beers on tap: Al’s Best Bitter, Madoc Dark (Irish red), Hastings Canadian (Kolsch-inspired), Isolation IPA, The Little Irish (Irish ale), and Nutmeg Stout. Place your order online or call or text it in to 416-970-8500 before picking it up curbside. You can also order in person at the retail counter. Free local delivery is available.

Bottles of Kings Mill Cider

Kings Mill Cider

If your dad is more of a hard cider fan, send him some of the award-winning brews perfected by Kees Morsink and Margaret Van Helvoort at Kings Mill Cider. Based in the rolling hills of Stirling, they use only the finest and freshest hand-picked Ontario apples to come up with a wide range of concoctions, from bone dry to fruity. Find them all in the online shop and then have them delivered right to your dad’s door wherever he is in Ontario for free as long as your order is over $30. You can also call in your order to 613-395-4079 and pick it up on Saturdays between 11 am and 6 pm.

The gallery is closed to visitors, but the owners are still there to answer any questions and fill orders via phone or email (wildewood.madawaska@gmail.com). They are also taking photos of what’s available in the gallery and posting them to Facebook. You can pay using e-transfer, and shipment is via Canada Post.

The lockdown will be lifted at some point, and when that happens your dad may seriously need an outdoor adventure. Founded in 1972, it was also the first white-water school in the world. They have gift cards for future trips available via phone and online.
